vs. A53 scores each phone against the Galaxy A53 5G. Downgrade means you would be going backwards — almost always because the phone uses an LCD panel where the A53 has Super AMOLED, often alongside a slower chip or only 4 GB of RAM. Wash means a faster processor cancelled out by a worse screen: real but not worth paying for. Upgrade means better on both counts.
Why the A25 is worse than the A53 , despite being two years newer: it runs the identical Exynos 1280 , so there is no performance gain at all. It then gives things up — the A53's IP67 water and dust rating becomes no rating whatsoever, the 64 MP main camera drops to 50 MP, the 12 MP ultrawide drops to 8 MP, and the fourth rear camera disappears. It gains a brighter panel (1000 nits against 800), a side-mounted fingerprint reader instead of in-display, and a longer software-support runway. Cheaper, newer, and still a step down.
Rootable means Motorola will issue a bootloader unlock code and there is realistic community support for root and custom kernels. Qualcomm silicon is the main predictor: MediaTek devices get far less development work and Motorola's eligibility for them is inconsistent. A carrier variant overrides this column entirely — a Verizon or TracFone unit (model numbers ending in V) can't be unlocked no matter what chip it has.
Current price is the new street price for models still sold, and the used-market price otherwise; the price filter works on this column. Used prices move constantly. Figures marked ~ are estimates rather than sourced quotes; the same goes for release dates shown as a month rather than a day.
Foldables are off by default. A flip’s inner display is a wear item that degrades from the crease outward, so a used one carries a risk a slab does not — dead pixels, lines, or shadowing along the fold, and a repair that costs more than the phone. Buy those new, not used. The razr Fold is the one book-style fold; every other razr is a clamshell.
No US Edge+ (2024) release could be confirmed, so it isn't listed. If you find one, trust the model number over the listing title.
